HUMAN RIGHTS WEEK CELEBRATION
CHR Regional Office VII Report
CHRP - 7 , Cebu celebrated the Human Rights Week in different activities with different sectors. The first activity was done with the conduct of Seminar/Lecture with Muslim Women Group called NOORUS SALAM , Cebu City Chapter. CHR discussed different topics such as womens' rights, CHR jurisdiction, programs, services and other essential information applicable to them.
|Members of Muslim Women Noorus Salam - Cebu City Chapter displayed their meaning of human rights in another way. These members, posed with personnel from CHR-7, Mr. Lito J. Hermosilla and Mr. Primo D. Cadampog, are happy thay they were able to invite CHR to lecture them on women's rights and other local and international laws on human rights.|
On December 8, 2012, another Seminar/Lecture was conducted to another Noorus Salam Group Lapu-lapu City Chapter. Related international and local news on Human and women's rights were discussed to ad it up into their human rights education as far as muslim women are concern. These two Muslim women group are enthusiastic to know their rights especially on women and to see whether these rights are the same as defined in the Koran.

On December 10, 2012, this day was special because CHR-7 staffs were able to visit the Badjao Pre-schoolers in Mambaling, Cebu City. These toddlers, although small as they are, were very happy to receive their "Pinaskuhan" consists of notebook, pencil, eraser, sharpener and grade one paper pad placed inside the plastic envelope. Aside from snack of juice and brownies, we also provided small pep talks about their rights- especially their right to be born, right to education, to have a family, right to have identity and other vital information for their easy understanding.
Atty. Alejandro Alonso together with CHR 7 staff visited the Badjao Pre-schoolers in Mambaling, Cebu City. These 30 pre-schoolers were able to received "Pinaskuhan" .
The Human Rights Orientation-Seminar of Barangay San Antonio officials of Cebu City, which was originally scheduled within human rights week celebration, was moved to Dec. 21, 2012. The participants were all Local Officials of the said barangay, including Brangay Captain Alan S. Masecampo. Basic human rights. its principles, classifications, local and international laws were discussed by Mr. Lito J. Hermosilla, Information Officer III. The CHR jurisdiction, investigation function and other related topics were discussed by our Investigator IV, Mr. Primo D. Cadampog.
Local officials of Barangay San Antonio, Cebu City attended the human rights orientation by CHR 7 on December 21, 2012.
